AMENDMENT OF PROTEST
_ DIVISION ON ESTIMATES THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDG? . Thursday. The House concluded the debate on the Railway Statement at 11.30 p.m.. and settled down to discuss the Railway Estimates. As a protest against the action of the Minister in continuing to dismiss men
from the department in spice of his promise not to do so and as a. protesagainst the curtailment of coal orderthe Leader of the Labour Party, M 1 H. E. Holland, moved a reduction «*f the estimates by £3 0. A division was taken on the amendment. which was defeated by 40 votes to 24. The following Reform members voted with Labour: Messrs. W\ P. Endean (Parnell). A. W. Hall (Manukau), V M. Samuel (Thames). K. A. Younu (Hamilton). Messrs. J. S. Fletche> (Independent—Grey Lynn) and "H. M Rush worth (Country—Bay of Islands) also voted for the amendment. Progress was then reported and the House rose at 12.10 a.m.
