RAILWAYS POLICY QUESTION MINISTER TO INVESTIGATE THE SL'X'S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Today. The reason why the Railway Department used American paints instead of British for carriage work at Addington and Otahuhu was sought by Mr. W. J. Jordan (Labour—Manukau) in the House today during the Railway Estimates debate. Mr. Jordan said the stuff the Minister of Railways had put over about American being the only available paint for coating cars at Otahuhu was not right. Long before that the Addington A.S.R.t>. had complained of the use of a Pittsburg Company’s paint. Wha? was the influence behind this use of American paint? What amount of money was spent on that paint? The Minister undertook to investigate the question, which he claimed was technical.
