ON BEHALF OF WORKLESS
ENGINEERS’ UNION CONCERT An excellent selection of orchestral, instrumental and vocal items by some of Auckland’s leading concert performers combined to make a first-class entertainment in the Town Hall last evening. The concert, which was organised by the Engineers’ Union on behalf of their workless colleagues, was attended by a large and appreciative audience, and as a result the unemployed should benefit considerably. The Engineers’ Union was assisted by members of the Auckland Professional Musicians’ Union and the Clarion Quartet. The well-balanced orchestra contributed several fine selections, the overture “Morning, Noon and Night” perhaps being the most popular. The soloists. Miss Lillian Woods and Beryl Smith, and Messrs. L. Harvey and 1). Black, also established themselves in firm favour, each performance being greeted with prolonged applause. The flute solos and violin solos played by Mr. G. Poore and Master Harold Taberner respectively, were also decidedly popular, while Mr. H. Samuel kept the house in a happy mood with his fund of humour. Mr. Frank Eger, ton was musical director and Mr. D. Black stage manager.
