THE YOUNG AUTHORESS
Dear Miss Rutledge,— I have just written a short story, and those who have read it think that it is worthy of publication. As I am a young girl and have not written anything like this before, perhaps you will be so good as to advise me where to send it? JUST ME. ANSWER If you desire to send j our story abroad, I advise you to study the magazines on the market with a view to submitting your efforts to the editor of a magazine specialising in a similar style and characterisation. It would be a waste of time, say, to submit a story about early pioneering days in New Zealand to a magazine that handled detective stories. Be careful to send in a neat, double-spaced manuscript with your name and address
J in the upper left-hand corner, and about six inches down the centre of the first page, put the title of the stoiy. | ANNE RUTLEDGE.
