GUIDE TO AVONDALE STAKES ( By reason ot* his second to Korakio in the Debutante Stakes at I anganui, it can be safely assumed that King Colossus will be a big fancy in the Avondale Stakes, an event I which for the greater part is com- ; posed of youngsters making their first appearance under silk, j King Colossus is the first of the progeny of the English horse Colossus |to race. Colossus, who is attached to the saino stud as Bunting Song, is a I Polymelus horse from Nation, by Sunder. and himself was a winner of several races in England. Queen Elizabeth, dam of the ' two-year-old. and also of a good performer in Ruapapa. was bred by Mr. T. H. Lowry, and is by Finland, from Sonnotte, by Royal l'-ysilier from La Cloche, by St.. Loger. King Colossus has speed and looks as if he will stay, while the experience gained at Wanganui will be all in favour of success in Saturday’s engagement.
