TRESPASSED ON COURSE
MAN FINED £lO AT WANGANUI HAD WON £23 AT RACES Press Association WANGANUI, Today. Francis Halligan, who only recently came out of gaol, pleaded guilty today to a charge of trespassing on the Wanganui racecourse. He stated that he came to Wanganui to try to get work and thought he would try hiu luck at the races. He hacked Monaloff and won £23 12s *Gd. “Then,” remarked Detective Walsh, “ho has plenty of money to pay a substantial fine.” “Don’t make it too heavy,” asked accused, “or 1 will be destitute.” The Magistrate, Mr. J. H. Salmon, then fined him £lO, in default two months’ gaol.
