MATAMATA CLUB’S MEETING From Our Own Correspondent MATAMATA. Today. Dr. J. T Laurenson presided over the annual meeting of the Matamata Tennis Club on Thursday evening, when there was an attendance of 25 members. The annual report and balance sheet adopted showed another successful season. The bank overdraft had been reduced to £l2 18s sd. The club had won the A and C grades in the Waikato East competitions. Officers elected were:—President, Dr. J. T. Laurenson; vice-presidents, Messrs H. Keeley and H. E. Schofield; club captain; J. T. Laurenson; vicecaptain. A. McKenna; secretary, J. Davis; assistant-secretary, H. Hitchcock: treasurer, 11. Keeley; auditor. Ft. W. Stevens; trustees. Messrs. E. C. Bank and J. Corbett; women’s committee, Mesdames Laurie. Barnes and | Stanley. Misses Waite. Stonex and Vincent; men’s committee, Messrs. W. MacDonald, Iv. Laurie. G. Fitzgerald, H. E. Schofield and E. J. Robertson New members elected were: Mesdames A. Alquist. T. J. Underwood. Misses E. Hitchcock. M. Beverley. It. Vosper and R. Swan, Messrs Davey. Flowers, Henry, MacDonald and Laurie. KNOX CLUB. MORRINSVILLE From Our Own Correspondent MORRINSVILLE. Today. The annual meeting of the Knox Tennis Club was held in Morrinsville on Tuesday evening. The annual report stated that the club had a membership of 37 last season. The financial position of the club was satisfactory, the debt incurred when the court was j laid down two seasons ago having been j practically extinguished. The following officers were elected:— J President, Rev. J. H. Starnes; vice-pre- | sident, Mr. E. Ennis; secretary, Miss J NT. Bremner; treasurer, Mrs. Ennis; committee. Misses D. Bright. D. Arndt, G. Meek, K. Johnstone, M. Bremner and Mrs. Ennis, Rev. Mr. Starnes, Messrs. 11. J. Barford, W. Morrice and E. Ennis. MORRINSVILLE CLUB From Our Own Correspondent MORRINSVILLE. Today. | The annual meeting of the Morrinsville Tennis Club was held on Thursday night, the president, Mr. W. C. Cargill, presiding. The balance sheet showed a profit of £6B 16s. inclusive of the proceeds of the queen carnival.
The balance of assets over liabilities was set down at £655 8s 6d. The report stated that the year just ended had been quite a successful one for the club. Although the membership showed a slight decrease, the financial position had improved. During the year the club organised a queen carnival from which £7l was cleared. The following officers were elected: —President. Mr. N. D. Chapman: vicepresident. Mrs. E. Jackson: secretary. Mr. N Gould: treasxjrer Mr. W. C. enroll; committee. Misses D Lowry. P. Hewitt. Hammond. Messrs. T. Heeps. Mcßae M. Andrews: auditor. Mr. J. Brown. It was decided to hold the opening day on Saturday. October 4, with a Yankee tournament. MERCER CLUB From Our Own Correspondent MERCER, Today. The annual meeting of the Mercer Tennis Club was held this week. Mr. M. M. Enting presiding. The report stated that a successful season had been concluded with the club winning the competition under the United Tennis Association. It had also the Massey Cup, open to c€*rtain B grade clubs, in the Franklin Association. A third court had been laid down during the season. The balance sheet showed a credit of £9 18s 7d on the year’s working. Officers elected were:—President. Mr Enting; secretary. Mr. A. E. Laing; committee. Messrs J L. MoFadzean. A. Worley. Mesdames Laing. Kerr, J Kennedy and Miss Calvert. It was decided to erect an up-to-date pavilion. The opening day was fixed lor October 11
