COST OF JOBLESS ARMY IN CANADA PEOPLE’S BUYING POWER Received 10.45 a.m. HAMILTON, Ontario, Tuesday. Addressing the Convention of the Union of Canadian Municipalities, Mayor H. W. Cater, of Brandon, Manitoba. declared that the economic loss to Canada through unemployment was £2,000,000 a month. He estimated the jobless at 200.000. A resolution urging the Canadian Government to take the initiative in bringing about a conference of nations »ith the object of increasing the purchasing power of the people was defeated at the annual convention of the Trades and Labour Congress of Canada held at Regina. The president. Mr. Moore, stated the League of Nations, International Federations and the Labour unions were working toward the same end.Unemployment insurance was urged.
