CHARGES OF THEFT

METAL POLISHER REMANDED Facing seven charges of stealing metal valued at £7 Ss, Walter James Charlton, a metal polisher, aged 49, was remanded at the Police Court today to appear on September 17. Accused was also charged with stealing a gun valued at £lO in 1919. Chief-Detective Hammond agreed to the remand asked by Mr. Bainbridge. counsel for accused, who did not appear. “We know accused is ill,” said the chief detective. “As far as we are concerned the same bail may be renewed,” Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., remanded accused until September 17, bail being renewed.
