NEW LODGE OPENED
WAITAKARURU ODDFELLOWS Prom Our Own Correspondent NGATEA, Monday. A branch of the Manchester Unity. Order of Oddfellows was opened at Waitakaruru, Uauraki Plains, last Saturday evening in the presence of representatives from 16 branches, numbering over 100. The meeting Was opened by the officers of the Loyal Ngatea Lodge 9574, and 21 candidates were initiated by the District Grand Master, Bio. W. G. Pitcher, assisted by the DeputyGrand Master, Bro. K. T. Scott, the 1.P.G.M., Bro. Fred Best, and other officers.
The Loyal Waitakaruru Lodge No. 9575 was then formally opened, there being 26 foundation members. Officers elected were as follow: N. 0., Bro. F. Walsh; V.G., Bro. S. 11. Kendall; E.S., Bro. N. Hedges; F.S., Bro. G. J. Death; treasurer, Bro. J. Godkin. The district grand master appointed Bro. A. E. Ludlow, P.G., of Ngatea, as I.P.N.G. and L.M., as a mark of appreciation by Grand Lodge of his work for the Order in Uauraki Plains, where he has assisted in the formation of three new lodges. The NG. appointed Bro. G. Pinnock as his warden, but deferred the appointment of the other officers till tlie first fortnightly meeting on September 1.
Congratulations were offered the new lodge by Bro. J. McLeod, district secretary, and by the representatives of the 16 lodges present.
