COLONIAL EXHIBITION
i ; AWARDED TO AUCKLANDER i RESEARCH AT CAMBRIDGE An Auckland University research scholar and assistant-lecturer, Mr. N. S. Alexander, M.Sc., has been awarded a Colonial Exhibition at Trinity College, Cambridge, the first to be won by a New Zealander for many years. Mr. Alexander is leaving this evening for Wellington to sail by the Ulimaroa for Sydney en route to England The several exhibitions which are offered by Trinity College each year for award throughout the British Empire are allocated on the candidate’s record and not on examination. They are available for two years, and it is Mr. Alexander’s intention to undertake research work for the next two years at the Cavendish Laboratory, under the direction of Sir Ernest Rutherford. Mr. Alexander’s scholastic career enmT me need at the Hamilton Boys’ High 1 School, and from there he came to the
Auckland University with a scholarship. He took the full physics course and graduated AI.Sc. with first-class honours in physics. During the past two years he has been junior assistant in the physics department at the University. but throughout he has studied research work.
