Auckland Owners Get Good Stake Money

REACH FOUR FIGURES DOZEN IN THE BIG LIST Twelve Auckland Provincial owners succeeded this season in capturing over a thousand pounds in prize-money, Mr. Wilfred Johnstone, owner of Peter Bingen and Enawah, topping the list with £3,724. Of the dozen successful owners, only two, Messrs. R. Revell and G. McMillan have their horses trained in the South, where R. B. Berry has charge of the string. Mr. Revell races Jean McElwyn and Sunshower, both of which won big money. The former, a game mare, kept up her record for consistency. While only winning one race, the little pacer was placed on fifteen occasions and earned the tidy cheque of £1,845. Mr McMillan was represented by Dundas Boy, who without scoring a first certificate lifted £1,115 in place money.

Mr. E. Parke’s found Gold Jacket his “sheet anchor.” while Torpedo Huon added to the Gold Bell pacer’s earnings with minor place money. Machine Gun and Te Wahia put R A McMillan in a good position on the honours list and he was associated with Mr. Moran in Peter McKinney’s fine tally. Two women enthusiasts are included in the local winning owners’ schedule, Mrs. I. E. Sweetapple being represented by Native Prince, Warplane and Arachne, and Mrs. C. McGregor by The Abbey.
