THREW BUTTS ON FLOOR

CIGARETTE MAY HAVE CAUSED TRAGIC SYDNEY FIRE EVIDENCE AT INQUEST SYDNEY, Friday. An inquest was held today concern ing the deaths of Mrs. and Miss Miller, the victims of the fire in Vauxhall Chambers, Sydney, on June 13. The chief witness was Edward Peach, commission agent, an occupant of an office on the fourth floor, where the fire originated and spread to the caretaker’s quarters above. Peach admitted being a heavy smoker of cigarettes and that he threw butts on the floor. Some of his goods were composed of celluloid. The coroner returned a verdict of accidental death. He added that the circumstances were gravely suspicious, but there was nothing definite against any person.
