SUMMER FLOWERING BULBS

Many bulbs can be planted now for flowering in late spring and summer Among the Liliums there are some truly delightful varieties. Liliums add grace and distinction to any git r den.

Acjapanthus. —With white and blue umbrella-like flowers from summer till autumn. Evergreen. Splendid tor filling up odd corners in gardens. Very hardy.

Lycoris. —Very hardy; will thrive 1.heavy soil if well drained. Plan' bulbs 3in deep and allow 41n between bulbs. The flowering period is from February to April. Lily of the Valley. —Everyone’s fav ourite. Sweetly scented; grow in sheltered position in enriched soil; plant one inch deep. Do not disturb after planting. Don’t be disappointed if blooms fail to appear in the firs! season after planting. Besides the familiar white variety there is a new yellow variety of merit. Montbretia.—Plant bulbs 3in deep during July, August and September, and you get lovely flowering displays from February to April. The new varieties are very choice—colours rich yellow, pale yellow, dark red, orange scarlet.

Nerine. —Very hardy and beautiful; plant bulbs during July and August 2in deep and Sin apart. The flowering heads appear on tall, graceful stems in colours such as rose pink, scarlet, white, soft pink. N. Fothergilli is deep vermilion scarlet; Sarniensis (rosy crimson) Nerines are very suitable for pot culture. Tuberose. —Very fragrant, a native of Mexico. Select sunny position, enrich soil. Plant bulbs ljin to 2in deep. The flowering period is from November to January.
