Sun’s Popularity Campaign

LAST BONUS WEEK IN SUN COMPETITION

Final Rules of Competition Announced

Ou Monday begins positively the last bonus week in The Sun’s Great Popularity Competition. During the week and until Saturday July 26. a special bonus of 100.000 votes will be given for each total of £lO in subscription money. This will be the contestant's last opportunity to get extra votes before the close. The competition will close two weeks from today, August 2. Next Saturday, one week from to day, the last list of contestants will be published. This list will contain only qualified contestants. Contestants who have not qualified should make up their balances immediately. Contestants whose names have been dropped may be reinstated by turning in a total of £lO in subscription money. IMPORTANT NOTICE During the last week oi the campaign, from July 26 to August 2, is the time to send in all reserve or secret ballots to be deposited in the ballot-box. Tie judges will count only the votes which have been deposited in the ballot-box by 4 p.m. on August 2. No matter how many votes a contestant may have, if the ballot certificates are not in the ballot-box by 4 p.m., August 2, they cannot be counted. For safety’s sake, ballots should be forwarded in sealed envelopes immediately to the campaign manager to be placed in the ballot-box. These sealed envelopes will be retained in the box and their contents kept a secret until the judges break the seal. This is important for an accident at the last minute might prevent the votes from reaching us safely. All subscriptions of every nature must be in the campaign office on Saturday, August 2. We assume no responsibility for subscriptions sent in by mail that arrive late. Any remittance arriving at the campaign office after 4 p.m. on August 2 will not be counted. CHECK YOUR BALLOTS If there is an erorr in your ballots, notify us immediately. No errors will be rectified after 4 p.m., August 2. If you desire to check your votes, bring all your reserve ballots which are in your possession to the campaign office and have them checked. If your reserve ballots are found to be correct, you may place them in a sealed envelope and deposit them for safe keeping in the ballot-box. During the last week—from July 26 to August 2, all original ballots of subscriptions will be retained in the campaign office. Only the duplicate butts will be mailed to contestants showing, how many votes have been issued on' the subscriptions. This is done to prevent the possibility of ballots being lost in the mail at the last minute. During the last week of the cam-

paign, from July 26 to August 2, no uncertified cheques for more than £5 can be accepted by the campaign department. Contestants receiving cheques for larger amounts than £5 must either have them cashed or certified by the bank.

The ballot box in the campaign office will be sealed after' the count ing of votes on July 26, a slot being left open in the top to receive all vote ballots. Subscriptions may be turned in and ballots issued all during the week from July 26 to August 2. Promptly at 4 p.m. on August 2, the doors of the campaign office will be closed. All contestants who are in the office will be taken care of. CONTESTANTS SELECT JUDGES The judges will be selected by the contestants themselves. Each contestant is requested to select some person to act as judge in the final count. The judges so appointed must be present at the Civic Theatre at 6.30 p.m. on August 2. Each judge should have a letter from the contestant he represents. This letter will entitle him to admission to the enclosure on the Mezzanine floor where the count will be made.

The first returns of the counting of votes will be announced from the stage of the Civic Theatre during the first intermission. The judges will complete the count between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., and the prizes will be awarded at the close of the show from the stage of the Civic Theatre. Contestants who desire to make a selection of the prize they wish, must be present at the Civic Theatre or have a representative present prepared to make immediate selection when their names are called.

The campaign manager is empowered to make immediate selection of the best prize available in all cases where a contestant is not present or has no representative present and also in all cases where a contestant is undecided as to the prize to be selected. The decision of the campaign manager, in selecting the best available prize for the contestant, is absolutely binding and no exceptions may be taken to his decision. This rule is important, as delay in making selection of prizes on the part of one contestant would retard the whole dis tribution and hold back all other con testants from making selections. Therefore in all cases, contestants must be prepared to make immediate selection or the campaign manager will award the best available prize. With but two weeks to go, every contestant should do his utmost to pile up a winning score—perhaps it is only one or two subscriptions stand ing between you and the prize you desire.
