ROXY

“SALUTE” AND A WESTERN An intimate glimpse of life at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, as lived by the 1,800 young Americans in training there, is given in “Salute,” the West Point-Annapolis football romance which is at the Roxy Theatre. George O'Brien, who portrays the role of an All-American West Point halfback, is shown competing in a swimming meet in the Annapolis gymnasium plunge. Plebes taking the oath of allegiance to the United States: their living quarters, mess hall, drills and football practice; their departure on an annual summer cruise, a .prom, a 70piece brand and the annual ArmyNavy football game, are all a part of “Salute.” A second big attraction is being shown in “The Mounted Stranger,” an exciting Western story starring Tloot Gibson. Winsome Louise Lorraine plays opposite Hoot. As a beautiful girl of Spanish descent, she risks her own life to save that of the hero.

GREY LYNN CINEMA “The Wolf of Wall Street,” at the Grey Lynn Cinema, is an unusually engrossing tale of the private lives of New York financiers. George Bancroft appears as a ruthless stockbroker, riding roughshod over every dealer who stands in his way. His one soft spot was his love for his wife, played by Baclanova, and when she became infatuated with his partner, the Wolf planned a terrible revenge. Excellent supports complete the programme. They are “The Circus Kid” and the views of the Rugby test ait Christchurch.
