SHUNTER KILLED
FOOT JAMMED IN POINTS CRUSHED BY TRUCK Press Association TIMARC. Frida}. A shocking accident occurred in the Timaru railway yards this afternoon shortly alter two o'clock, resulting in the death of a shunter, John Ewart Milne, a married man. with three young children, who lived in Market Street. Watlington. It is believed that Milne was engaged in shunting operations at the time, and that he stepped behind two trucks for the purpose of lifting the couplings. His left foot apparently became jammed between the points, and his leg was completely 'severed just below the knee. The right wheel of the truck immediately behind passed over him. and dragged him along the rails. He received internal injuries from which he died in the hospital shortly after 4.30 p.m. Milne had been employed as a shunter at Timaru for some years.
