Friday. i A rumour that members of the teaching service are to be expected to accept salary reductions as part of the Government's economy proposals was given an emphatic denial, when referred to the Minister of Education, tfee Hon. H. Atmore, today. He said the statement had no foundation in tact. No salaries were being touched whatever. The education report contained proposals for the improvement of the teachers’ positions by removing anomalies and draws attention to the disparity existing between the salaries of. headmasters and assistants of secondary schools with a much lower average attendance.
