German Victory Predicted In 1936 Olympic Games
“We can look forward to Germany winning: the Olympic Games in 1936." That prediction was made by Mr. Daniel J. Ferris, secretary-treasurer of tlie United States Amateur Athletic Union, upon his return to New York after several weeks in Berlin at tbe Olympic Congress and the conventions of various international athletic federations.
“The entire nation is in back of athletics and tbe ordinary athletic fields are as finely equipped as those at our great universities, at Franklin Field and at Cambridge, for example.” Mr. Ferris said. "At one field I saw
high jump pits' at the far end of the grounds where 3 5 men could practice at the same time, and similar arrangements were made for shotputters.
“Germany will be reinforced in its determination to win by the fact that it is likely to be the scene of the 1936 Olympic Games. Although no definite assignment of the games lias been made as yet. Germany is the likely site, inasmuch as Berlin had been chosen as tlie place for the 1916 meet before tlie war baited the Olympics. Berlin, Cologne, Frankfort and Nuremberg all are bidding for tbe 1936 meet.”
