SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS

ASSOCIATION OFFICERS ELECTED The annual meeting of the Auckland South African War Veterans’ Association was held in the Chamber of Commerce last evening. Major T. P. Halpin, president, presided. The annual report showed that the association is in a sound financial position. The sum of £SO had been received from the National War Council funds for the relief of distressed veterans. The following officers were elected: Patron, Colonel-Commandant Brigadier 11. R. Potter, C.M.G.; vice-pat-rons, Lieut.-Colonel J. E. Duigan, D. 5.0., Lieut.-Colonel Dr. llardie Neil, D. Mr. A- M. Samuels, M.P., Lieut.-Colonel T. 11. Lawson. Mr. Claude Jewell, Mr. C. G. Macindoe: president. Lieut.-Colonel E. G. Fraser; vice-presidents. Major T. P. Halpin. Captain J. Algie, V.L>.; hon. secretary. Mr- W. G. Marks; assistant hon. secretary, Mr. A. E. Giffen; hon. treasurer, Mr. A. G. Bertram: hon. auditor. Mr. E. A. Giffen: executive. Messrs. L). Henderson. C. J. Little, C. Johnston. W. E. Linkhorn, J. Hughes, W. G- McMillan. A. Reid. A. Grant, and Captain Attwell. In recognition of their valuable services to the association, Lieut.-Colonel E. G. Fraser was elected a life member of the association and Mr. J. F. Jackson a life member of the executive. The president was elected to represent the association at the annual conference of South Africa War Veterans to be held in Wellington.
