SUBURBAN THEATRES
The Crystal Palace Theatre, Mount Eden Road, is showing “The Case of Sergeant Grischa,” the tremendously moving war story of the German-Rus-sian front, based on Arnold Zweig’s novel. Chester Morris has the chief role, supported by Leyland Hodgson, Alec B. Francis and Betty Compson. The second feature is “The Man Higher Up,” starring Hobart Boswoßth. The Empress Theatre, Newton, and the Alexandra Theatre. Green Lane, are both showing “The Trial of Mary Dugan,” the famous courtroom drama, starring Norma Shearer, H. B. Warner and Raymond Hackett. The % West End Theatre, Ponsonby Road, is showing “The Mighty,” a tense story of American underworld and police life, starring George Bancroft. The De Luxe T’heatre, Mount Albert Terminus, is showing two talkie thrillers in “Black Waters,” a sea mystery, and “Guilty,” a courtroom drama. The Regent Theatre, Epsom, is showing “Her Unborn Child,” the hearttouching story of reckless youth and a mother’s love. Special matinees with programmes suitable for children will be presented at each theatre tomorrow afternoon.
