WEDNESDAY LEAGUE

ASSOCIATION MAY BE FORMED A.R.L. EXECUTIVE MEETING The possibility of the formation of a Wednesday League Football Association in Auckland was mentioned at the meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League last evening. The secretary asked permission to call a meeting of the representatives of four firms, The Sun, Chess Taxis, Heard’s and Private Taxis, and the Trotters and Trainers, who were desirous of playing football on Wednesday afternoons. The chairman, Mr. George Rhodes mentioned that there might be some difficulty over grounds as Wednesday matches might mean that the ground would not be in the best ot condition for Saturdays. However, the meeting will be held, and the secretary will report back to the Management Committee next week.

Mr. W. J. Davidson (City) expressed dissatisfaction with the way in which senior A grade matches were being allocated. He gave notice to move in a fortnight: “That the allocation of grounds for senior A matches be left in the hands of the representative selection committee (Messrs. E. K. Asher, H. Avery and J. Clark) and Mr. Cloke, a member of the Advisory Committee.”

The treasurer, Mr. F. Ellis, was granted three weeks’ leave of absence, owing to ill-health. During his absence Mr. T. Davis, secretary of the Junior Management Committee, will assist the chairman and secretary in undertaking the treasurer’s duties.
