September 25 (about) —Auckland Choral Society. Coming:—Florence Austral. Musicians’ Ball In aid of the Musicians’ Union Benevolent Fund a combined ball is being held at Scots Hall on Tuesday evening. Twenty-six orchestras are cooperating in this big effort. BOHEMIAN ORCHESTRA NEXT WEEK’S CONCERT V ATTRACTIVE FARE With Dvorak’s “Symphony No. 5, in E Minor,” Op. 95, from “The New World,” and Liszt’s “Hungarian Rhapsody,” No. 2, for piano and orchestra, heading the bill, an interesting programme is promised by the Bohemian Orchestra at its concert on Thursday evening next. For the latter number Mrs. R. A. Singer will be the solo pianist.

Other numbers by the orchestra will be the “Cleopatra” overture (Mancinelli), Weber’s “Oberon” overture. Elgar’s “Dorabella” intermezzo from the “Enigma Variations,” “Valse Badinage,” from “The Music Box” (Liadow), Massenet's “Elegy,” “Procession of the Sirdar,” from Ivanov’s “Caucasian Sketches” and “Jerusalem,” by Parry. Madame Dorothy Cronin, who has quickly won popularity with Auckland audiences, will sing “Sappho’s Farewell,” by Gounod, and a bracket of three numbers by Dvorak, “I Chant My Lay,” “Songs My Mother Taught Me,” and “Tune Thy Strings, O Gipsy.” The orchestra will be under the direction of Mr. Colin Muston.
