“SAILORS HOLIDAY” Tlio programme of two comedies at the Xational Theatre opens with the uproarious tale, “Sailor’s Holiday,” starring Alan Hale. Tho comedy high-lights are numerous. They start with the visualisation of tho elaborate story which two sailors tell their commander of their experiences in rescuing a woman in distress in order to avoid being sentenced to tho brig for attacking a master-at-arms at their last port of call. And they continue in rapid succession to the end, where the same master-at-arms, who has been chasing them through the whole of the picture, is revealed as Ethelbert Jones, the very man who lias been the central cause of all tho trouble in which the two "gobs” and the girl have been involved. The second big talkie attraction at the Xational is "This Thing Called Love," and is a smart comedy of matrimonial complications and troubles which servo to contrast the modern and the old-fashioned ideas of marriage. Constance Bennett and Edmund Lowe head the brilliant cast. Lionel Belmore, veteran character comedian, and Claud Alllster, English comedian, have been given important roles in "Monte Carlo,” Ernst Lubitsch’s next screen operetta. Jack Buchanan and Jeanette MacDonald havo tho singing leads.
