Mrs. P. Ganna way and Miss May Chitty have left for a trip to the Islands.

Turner, of Matamata, has been the guest of Mrs. M. Manning during synod week.^ - Miss Colin Campbell-Smith, erf Rotorua, is making a short visit to Hamilton. GOLF MATCH On Thursday a team of eight women from the Middlemore Golf Club visited St. Andrew’s in Hamilton, and had a very pleasant day on the Hamilton links. . During the morning singles were played, resulting in a win of 2 up for the local players. In the afternoon the four-ball matches ended in another win for Hamilton. Out of the 12 games Hamilton won seven, lost three and squared two. The Auckland players were: Mrs. J. Wilson, Mrs. Rutherford, Mrs. Abbott, Mrs. Robertson. Miss Mac Cormack, .Miss Upton. COUNCIL OF MOTHERS’ UNION ENTE RTAINED

A delightful luncheon 1 party was given by Mrs. R. Clarke. Mrs. M. Manning and Mrs. L. B. Gilfillan for the council members of the South Auckland branch of the Mothers’ Union on Thursday at the Lyceum Club. The tables were decorated with early spring flowers. HOSPITAL AUXILIARY MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL GOOD WORK REPORTED The monthly meeting of the Council of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary \v<*s held on Wednesday in the Hospital Board Room. Mrs. Alfred Kidd was in the chair, and there were also present 17 members of the council. Mrs. Tiarks reported that members of her committee have taken patients for drives each week, and Mrs. Murdoch Smith’s committee have taken 25 patients to their homes during the month The Visiting Committee, with Mrs. Pankhurst as convenor, have visited .the hospital distributing books and jam, and the Mount Eden branch. Mrs. Potter, president, have also visited the wards distributing comforts to the patients in addition to calling on needy cases in their homes and giving where needed. This branch also contributed 39 garments to the depot during June. Mrs. Neil, president of the Onebung.i branch, reported that their members had been busy as usual attending to the comforts of the folks in the infirmary. A concert was given during th~ month by Miss Laura Walker and party, which was much enjoyed. Mrs. Carr-Smith reported • that tincity sewing circle had been responsible for 163 garments during June, which speaks volumes for the good work done by this committee. A parcel from the Gladstone Girl Guides was also sent in by the sewing circle. The junior branch, of which Mrs. Nutter is secretary, has also been busj| and has made another 50 garments for St. Helens Hospital. The ways and means has been helping with the numerous activities which are carried on at this season of the year, and Miss Trevithick, secretary, reported that this committee is also taking the stall at the Winter Show for three days. Miss Ormond reported on her investigation work and expressed the thanks of some of the cases which have beer helped by the auxiliary. Mrs. Drysdale and Mrs. Hugh Maguire have attended to all parcel transport, and in addition to this took charge of the arrangements for the cabaret held during hospital week, which w.as a great success. During June, 459 garments were given out from the depot to 86 families, and 47 fami lies were helped with food orders. Parcels were received from the Te Atatu, New Lynn and Glen Eden Institutes, and other workers were responsible for making up 50 garments. A very successful collection day was held on June 27, and many thanks are due to the different societies and associations who so kindly helped with this effort, and also to the firms who contributed in different ways to this success.
