INTER-CLUB BADMINTON

NORTHERN BEATS MANUREWA The Northern Badminton Club entertained the Manurewa Badminton Club in the Mangere East Hall on Monday evening, when an inter-club match was played, resulting in a win for the Northern Club by 11 games to one. The Manurewa Club is in its second season and has 17 members, all of them being new to the game. Considering the fact that the club has had little practice it has done remarkably well. At the conclusion of the match the secretary, Mr. Magi 11, on behalf of the visitors thanked the home club for its hospitality and expressed the hope that it would return the visit. The results are as follow, home names mentioned first: — Women’s Doubles.—Misses Solomon and Bottrell beat Miss Foland and Mrs. Magill. 21—12 ; Misses Rennie and Montgomerie lost to Misses Lupton and Finlayson, 5—21; Misses Knight and Newson beat Misses Coxhead and Dreadon. 21—10 Men’s Doubles.—Solomon and Wilson beat Magill and Winn, 21—8; Canham and McDell beat Dreadon and Clayton. 2—7: Chalmers and Montgomerie beat Gray and Gibbons, 21—1. Combined Doubles.—Solomon and Miss Solomon beat Magill and Miss Yeoland, 21—10: Wilson and Miss Bottrell beat Winn and Miss Magill, 21 —9; Canham and Miss Montgomerie beat Dreadon and Miss Lupton, 21—13; McDell and Miss Rennie beat Clayton and Miss Finlay son, 21—16; Chalmers and Mrs. Knight beat Gray and Miss Coxhead, 21—9; Montgomerie and Miss Newson beat Gibbons and Miss Dreadon, 21—14.
