RIFLE SHOOTING
PAEROA MINIATURE CLUB From Our Oxen Correspondent PAEROA, Today. The Paeroa Miniature Rifle Club had a very busy night in the Drill Hall on Wednesday evening, when two trophies were shot for. The third and final shoot of a most interesting threenight competition for a trophy donated by the Paeroa Hardware Company and Messrs. Tisdall, Ltd., of Auckland, was fired. Shooting has been vefy keen throughout this competition, and some good scores resulted. The conditions were three separate nights’ shooting with fresh handicaps for each night, but only two shoots to count in the the final aggregate. Thus members
could take the scores of their best two shoots, or be absent on one night and still be in the competition. The limit of each shoot was 100 with the handicap. After the first two nighty Mr. F. C. Hubbard, the president, wM in the lead with the possible number of points, 200, having obtained 97 off the rifle with a handicap of three on each night. Five others had reached the 100 on one of those nights and they were required to again obtain the limit on tho third night to tic with him, but did not do so, and Mr. Hubbard was declared th© winner. Mr. W. Ainscough was close up second with 300, obtaining 99 on the first night and 100 on the final night with his handicap. Tho scoring for th© three nightcompetition is as follows, the two best shoots being the total, and the handicaps after each score:

Wednesday evening’s scores also counted for a trophy donated by Mr. A. E- Pearson, a member of the club. Mr. W. Ainscougli proved to be th© winner of this trophy, by registering a fine score off the rifle of 98 which, with his handicap, brought him up to the limit. Mr. John Morrison was second with a total of 07.
