MID PERIOD CLOSES TOMORROW

The great raid-period o£ The Sun’s Popularity Competition will close tomorrow —less than 24 hours remain for contestants to take advantage of the 300,000 vote offer which is allowed on each total of £lO in subscription money up until noon tomorrow. This is the contestant’s greatest opportunity to pile up the extra votes. NAMES DROPPED

In tomorrow’s paper another list will be published, and the names of all contestants who have turned in less than £lO in subscription money will be omitted. The list will include only the actually qualified contestants. Every contestant whose name appears in tomorrow afternoon’s list will positively he assured of winning a prize. Contestants whose names are dropped from the list may be reinstated with their full votes provided they turn iu subscriptions sufficient to make up a total of £lO. HOW THE CAMPAIGN CLOSES But three more weeks remain before the lucky people will walk off with their trophies of effort and popularity. Three weeks from tomorrow the great campaign will be over—the votes will be counted, and the prizes will have been awarded. During this next three weeks tho big winners will be decided. Today it is anybody’s race—any one of 150 contestants can be first. Never before in the history of a campaign of this kind has there been such close competition, and have the contestants remained neck-and-neck throughout the entire race. First one leads, then another, and who the winner will be no one knows.

Promptly at 4 p.m. on August 2 the polls will close in the office of the Campaign Department. All subscriptions must he in the campaign office by that hour. Subscriptions in the post will not count unless they are actually received in the Campaign Department, together with the money, before the stroke of four. All secret votes issued to the contestants must be in the ballot-box when the seal goes on at four in the afternoon of August 2. During the week of the competition, July 26 to August 2, the ballot-box in the office of the campaign will be sealed —a slot left open iu the top to receive secret votes. During the last week no count will be made for publication in the paper. The last count of votes will be on July 26, and then the box will be sealed. During the last week of the competition the ballots will not be mailed back to the contestants. When remittances are received, the ballots will be issued—the butts sent to the contestants, and the original ballot will be placed in the ballot-box immediately. The campaign, manager earnestly requests all contestants to check their accounts, as no mistakes will be rectified after the close of the competition. Contestants who do not present their accounts for checking before July 23 will be considered as having correct accounts. Any contestant who is at adl doubtful of his votes should send In all ballot butts and campaign office receipts for checking with the campaign file. When the prizes are awarded—all prizes will be available in Auckland The winning contestants will be given orders on the various firms from whom the prizes have been purchased and the winning contestant w-ill he asked

to take delivery. Under no circumstances will cash be given in lieu of any prize. The prizes have been purchased from the various merchants and these prizes are 6n display. Neither the campaign manager nor The Sun can assume responsibility for any sale, transfer or exchange of any prize for merchandise other than that specified as the prize. The sale of any prize, exchange or transfer must be handled by the winning contestant so desiring to make the change. All prizes will be awarded to the contestant by choice. The contestant who is first in the list will have the first choice; the one who is second will have the choice of the remaining prizes after the first has been chosen; the one who is third will have the next choice, etc., etc. The selection of prizes by the contestants must be made when the contestant's name is called during the awarding of prizes by the judges on the evening of August 2.

iu case a contestant is not present when his name is called or has no representative present to make immediate selection of the prize the campaign manager will then be empowered to select the best available prize for that contestant. Under no consideration will delay be allowed. Even though a contestant is present or has a representative present—unless immediate selection is made the campaign manager will be empowered to select the best available prize and the distribution will then pass on to the next contestant in order of their standing. This rule is final.

The awarding of the prizes will take place immediately after the conclusion of the count of votes on the evening of August 2. Contestants who are not present should empower their judge to select the best available prize when the award of prizes takes place.
