A romantic story is attached to the novel, "Pidgin Cargo,” wwitten by Mrs. Alice Tisdale Hobart and published by Ilodder and Stoughton. The author, who is the wife of an American business .man, has lived for 15 years iu remote parts of China. Escaping from the Nanking massacre two years ago, she had to leave her manuscripts, but a faithful Chinese servant jealously guarded “Pidgin Cargo” and restored it to its owner.
