MAJESTIC

“THE GREEN GODDESS” “The Green Goddess," the second of a series of productions which the notable star, George Arliss, is making for Warner Bros., and which is continuing its successful season at the Majestic for another week, was one of the most successful plays ever produced on the legitimate stage. Critics agreed that it was a faultlessly constructed melodrama and it attracted large and enthuisastic audiences at every performance during its long run. This melodrama of the Far East is one of Mr. Arliss’s best known stage vehicles. The illustrious actor appeared In it in the United States and England for several successive seasons, during which time it drew critical approba tion and broke box office records. Alfred E. Green directed this screen version of William' Archer’s play and Mr. Arliss is supported by a popular cast, including Alice Joyce, H. B. Warner and Ralph Forbes. Nigel de Brulier, well known for his unusual character studies, also plays an important role in “The Green Goddess.” As a wild-eyed, fanatical temple priest, worshipping his strange idols and conducting strange religious rites, Mr. de Brulier gives another of his fascinating performances. The Majestic’s current programme includes a full list of supporting talkies.
