FLOATING RACE PERMITS
ALLOTTED TO WHANGAREI AND TAUMARUNUI DATES COMMITTEE REPORT Special to THE SUM WELLINGTON, Today. The dates committee of the Racing Conference today submitted the following report to the conference, and this \vas adopted: Dates of race meetings, as submitted by the racing and hunt clubs using the totalisator, for holding race meetings during the ensuing year (1930-31) are approved, subject to tho following amendments: That the Taranaki Hunt Club be granted August 30 in lieu of September 6; Otago Hunt Club, September 13 in lieu of September 6; Geraldine Racing Club, September 25 and 27, in lieu of September 25 and 26; Marlborough Racing Club, February 27 and 28. in lieu of October 23; Poverty Bay Turf Club, October 1, in lieu October 2 3 and 25; Waikato Hunt Club, October 27; Waikato Racing Club, November 15 and 17, in lieu October 25 and 27; Banks Peninsula Racing Club, November 1; Otaki Maori Racing Club, October 10 and 11, in lieu October 11 and December 6; Taumarunui Racing Club, December 5 and 6. That the application by the Oamaru Jockey Club for January 2 and 3 be not granted. That the W’aipapakauri Racing Club be granted January 24, in lieu of January 10. The dates of the Thames Jockey Club be not approved unless that club pays its outstanding levies by July 31, and if levies are not T>aid by that date, two days* racing of the club be allotted to other clubs. If the levies are paid by July 31, the Thames Jockey Club be granted January S and 10, in lieu of January 22 and 24. That the Wanganui Jockey Club be granted February 19 and 21, in lieu of February 12 and 14; W'oodville District Jockey Club, February 25 and 26; Dannevirke Racing Club, March 11 and 12, in lieu of February 25 and 26: "Westport Jockey Club, March 28 and 30; Masterton Racing Club, April ljp and 11, in lieu of April 17 and IS; Waikato Racing Club, April 18 and 20, in lieu of April 24 and 27; Whangarei Racing Club, April 30 and May Late Application The Brackenfield Hunt Club’s application for a totalisator licence was not received in time and could not be considered, the dates committee having recommended to the Minister of Internal Affairs that two “floating” one-day totalisator licences be permanently allocated to the Whangarei and Taumarunui Racing Clubs. As it was almost the unanimous opinion that “floating” permits should disappear and be permanently allocated, the Minister has decided that these two “floating” one-day totalisator licences shall be permanently allocated as recommended. Mr. Da.rgaville pointed out that the dates committee had granted Waikato spring dates which clashed with the Dargaville Club, and he said that the latter club would probably select another date.
