SPEEDY LIFEBOAT
SAFETY ASSURED IN CHANNEL MISHAPS CHRISTENED BY PRINCE United P.A. —By Telegraph Copyright Reed. 11.55 a.m. RUGBY, Thursday. The Prince of Wales at Dover christened the world’s largest and fastest motor lifeboat, naming the vessel Sir William Hilary, after the founder of the Lifeboat Institution, who during his life was concerned In saving 309 lives. The president and secretary of the French Lifeboat Society attended tile function. The Prince in a speech said the bom which was stationed at England’s gate way to the Continent, was to guard against casualties in steamship and airplane traffic. Speed was essential in responding to calls fOjT help from aircraft which came down in the Channel, and in designing the new boat these special requirements were borne in mind.
