CATHOLICS IN MALTA

FIRM OPPOSITION HELD TO THE CONSTITUTION

DEFIANT LEAFLET PRINTED MALTA, July 2. A leaflet bearing the imprint “Curias” has been circulated throughout the island, stating:—“The bishop’s pastoral can never be withdrawn, not even if England takes away our constitution not even if England, from the sea, the air and the bastions, upon which our fathers died, trains upon us the whole of her guns. Our forefathers remained Christians because they were not afraid of guns. “The Maltese of today will remain Catholics and nobody is going to buy the Maltese with a constitution in order that they may become Protestants.”
