FISTS USED FREELY
RUGBY MATCH AT PAEROA From Qiir Own Correspondent PAEROA, Today. The handful of spectators who saw the conclusion of the Paeroa East and Suburbs senior Rugby match on Saturday, are awaiting action on the part of the Paeroa Rugby Union in connection with the conduct of several prominent players. The game was played in continuous rain and tlie tempers of players and spectators became disturbed in the last quarter. After half a dozen cautions all round, one player was ordered off for offering to fight the referee, using language a great deal more picturesque than polite. He was later allowed to return, after which the game got out of hand. Fists were freely used in the scrums and melees, and it became merely a question of who could stand the hardest knocks. A spectator threw off his hat and coat and wanted to fight a player, but retired from the field with the expressed intention of “having it out” after the match. East won by 3 to 0.
