EXAMPLE TO YOUTH
SIR JOSEPH WARD’S RECORD OF SERVICE M.L.C.S’ SYMPATHY Press Association WELLINGTON. Wednesday. At a meeting of the Legislative Council today, the Deputy-Leader, the Hon. R. Masters, in the absence of the Leader. Sir Thomas Sidey, moved motions of appreciation of the late Sir Joseph Ward’s services and of sympathy with, his relatives. Mr. Masters said Sir Joseph Ward had a wonderful record of service to the people. There were few people who h*ad crowded more into their lives, and his life was an outstanding example to the youth of the country. In seconding the motion Sir Francis Bell said he had experienced both opposition and co-operation with Sir Joseph Ward. Both had taught him to appreciate the late statesman to the full. Sir Joseph’s opponents had always been ready to recognise his services to the Dominion, and he could have had a seat in the Legislative Council long ago had he desired. He had made a great sacrifice when he joined the National Government, but never once had he allowed political feelings to obtrude. The Council adjourned until July 22.
