BREEDING IN GERMANY

STATISTICS PUBLISHED The first supplement to Vol. XVIII. of the German Stud Book contains many data of greatest interest pertaining to bloodstock breeding in Germany. There were more than 1,100 brood mares located at the German studs in 1929 and the services of 119 stallions were available. In spite of the large number of the latter many mares have been mated with foreign sires, among them being such as Abbots Trace, Buchan, Ellangowan, Happy Man, Obliterate, Rocksavage and Zionist. There were 559 living foals in Germany in the previous year. Nearly 200 thoroughbreds were exported from Germany to foreign countries in 1929. SO of them going to Poland, 25 to Denmark, 27 to Belgium and 10 to Sweden.
