The Paeroa Orphans’ Club is enjoying the benefit of a greatly increased membership. This month’s session was presided over by Orphan V. J. Innes. The musical programme was provided by a party of nine visitors from Thames. 0 0 0 The recently formed branch of the Workers’ Educational Association has opened a winter programme of weekly lectures and reading of plays, and descriptions of classical operas, the latter being assisted by gramophone music. 0 0 0 A handsome addition to buildings fronting the main street is the newlybuilt combined library and rest room, in brick. The cost was raised last year by public subscription for the relief of unemployment. 0 0 0 A good response is being made to the appeal of the Mayor, Mr. W. Marshall, for public subscriptions to defray the cost of repairing the Paeroa cemetery. The fund was recently handsomely augmented by a gift of £SO from the Ohinemuri County Council, which is the controlling authority.
