MR. A. W. SMITH The death has occurred in Christchurch of Mr. Alfred William Smith, aged 74. He was a prominent figure In the motor business there some years ago.—P.A. MR. JOHN McCARROLL The death has occurred at Te Awamutu of Mr. John McCarroll. aged 8-* years. He was a prominent loc.l body member for many years at North Auckland. He came to the Dominion from Belfast 44 years ago. He is survived by seven sons and two daughters Ho had at Te Awamutu with a son for a year. He will hr buried at Paparoa.—P-A. MR. A. W. PAGE The death has occurred In Paris, according to a message received in I Christchurch, of Mr. Alfri-d William Page. M.A.. aged 31. He was formerly ! a master at the Christchurch Boy?’ High School, and was well known for his brilliant scholastic and scientific achievements. He was organiser of the “No War’’ movement iff New Zealand. —P-A, MISS A. M. AREY A former teacher of the AuckUno Education Board and a City social worker. Miss Alice Mildred Arey died yesterday. Joining the teaching service in 1891. Miss Arey was in char :** of the infant department at the Napier Street School for 15 years, until 1928. when she retired and took up soci il service work. She was provincial secretary of the Auckland Mothers' League and assistant secretary of the Haeremai Club.
