TWO MEN DROWNED
LIGHTHOUSE-KEEPER AND MAIL CARRIER OUT ON FISHING TRIP Press Association NELSON, Today. Yesterday morning the lighthouse at French Pass continued to function until late in the morning and the mail contractor did not arrive at French Pass Post Office for his mail. Postmaster Webger investigated these unusual happenings and found that both the lighthouse-keeper, Reginald Sherwood, and the mail contractor. Clifford Kassey, were missing. The men went out in a dinghy ou Thursday night and left a fishing net, and had not returned. The body of the lighthouse-keeper was found yesterday afternoon on the D’Urville Island side of the Pass and the dinghy near Clay Point. Kassey’s body has not yet been recovered. Kassey was a returned soldier, a married man with four children. Sherwood was married, with two children. Both men were aged about 37.
