NANCY CARROLL STEPS INTO DEAD STAR’S SHOES
The original version of a new film, “The Devil’s Holiday,” was written for the late Jeanne Eageis, whose untimely death prevented her taking the part which Nancy Carroll is now | occupying. The I story was written by Ed- : mund Goulding, who called it “The Woman in the Wheat.” “The character of the hardened • Middle W extern mani- | curist appealed j to Miss Eageis, and she was looking forward to playing it,” continued Golding. “When I took the story to Paramount, a few '• deft touches turned it into a good ' story for Nancy Carroll. The rei suits have more than justified my | faith in the story.”
