Floral tributes from every part of Australia were sent to Miss Starr, and her cabin resembled a florist’s shop. There were waratahs from West Australia, and other flowers from admirers in every other State, One of the most striking souvenirs was a huge six-pointed star, about three feet across, and including every Australian flower. This was sent from Melbourne. Miss Starr said that she was not sorry to leave Sydney, but greatly regretted leaving her many friends behind her. “Never * mind!” she cried to her friends on the wharf. “I will come back and see every one of you—but never to go on the Sydney stage.” Miss Starr said that her present plans were unsettled, but she expected to stay in America for a long time. She hopes to go into the talkies.
