WHAT IS A GIRL TO THINK?
If a girl, cycling- through a blazing August sun to a cool, green shade near the riverside, where she is to meet the young man she loves, finds him kneeling beside a beautiful girl in a punt, what is she to think? If, further, to this shock is added the one of finding that the beautiful woman is dead, and in her handbag a photo of the cycling girl’s lover, what is likely to happen? Gwennie Bourne is repelled, and leaves Hugh Monro before the mystery can be explained. For his part, he is soon involved in greater mysteries still, besides being distracted by Gwennie’s distrust. But even so. they are only on the threshold of the great and baffling events which form the theme of ‘•THE JAPANESE PARASOL.” By ELLIOT BAILEY The opening chapters will appear in THE SUN TOMORROW.
