WHERE IS THE NIGGER?
GOVERNMENT’S OFFER OF OLD POST OFFICE CURIOSITY OF COUNCILLOR "Hero mo have a Government that needs £3,000.000 offering to sell us the old post office site for £69,000, with other conditions; I wish to know where is the nigger in the wood-pile?” This was the remark of Cr. J. R. Lundon at the City Council last evening. when the Government’s terms of sale of the site mentioned were under consideration. When the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon. moved that the terms be referred to the Finance Committee, Cr. Lundon sought discussion there and then, but the motion prevailed.
