LIMITING CAR PARKING

A.A.A. COUNCIL APPROVES OF SCHEME WILL REMAIN WATCHFUL “The decision of the City Council to prohibit all-day parking in the City streets is certainly a move in the right direction,” said the president, Mr. A. Grayson, at a meeting of the council of the Auckland Automobile Association last evening. “Motorists and businessmen have had a very libera] treatment in the past, many having parked in the same position in the same street every day for years. The system has grown now to be a public nuisance." Ample notice had been given to enable motorists to make other arrangements for parking. He pointed out that it had not been the idea of the committee which made the recommendation to prohibit parking altogether in all streets, but only to restrict the duration of a stop in the actual busv City streets. On Mr. Grayson’s suggestion, a committee of five was set up to confer with the Legal and By-laws Committee of the City Council regarding details of the scheme. Members will endeavour to make sure that motorists will not be harassed unduly by the restrictions. The committee will consist of the president, Mr. J. B. King, Mr. J. R. Self, Dr. J. H. Lawry and Mr. George Henning.
