400 ACRE SETTLEMENT

SECTIONS NEAR OPOTIKI LAND BALLOT ON JULY 4 From Our Own Correspondent OPOTIKI, Today. Another section of land, comprising more than 400 acres of first-class land purchased by the Government for settlement, is to be balloted for at the beginning of next month. The settlement, which will be known as Apanui, will be divided into seven sections ranging from 52 to 82 acres. The land is for open selection on a renewal lease, the rentals ranging from £6B to £7B. Most of the land is as good as any to be found in the Dominion. It is situated on Opotiki Flats, four miles from the township. Applicants will be examined on July 4 and the ballot will take place at Opotiki at the conclusion of the examination. •Great interest is being taken at Opotiki in thq ballot and it is expected that there will be a large number of applicants. Dwellings and milking sheds will have to be built on nearly all sections. The land is eminently suited for dairying and maize-growing. Successful applicants have a little time to get things into working order before the dairying season opens.
