WRESTLING GOSSIP
Fred Ebert and "Scotty” McDougall will open the wrestling season at Palmerston North next Monday evening. mm* Tom Alley and his team of wrestlers who are under contract to the Wellington Association, should arrive on the Aorangi Sunday. It appears that the Wellington Association has a square painted on the canvas, 18in inside the ropes. Two wrestlers who have performed in the capital :ity have spoken against this line, and the rule that once they are outside that square they have to return to mid-ring. The ropes are evidently only ornaments. It these complaints are correct, the Wellington Association has discovered a unique way of trying to keep the wrestlers in the ring and away from the ropes. But it did not appear to work when Walker and McDougall got to grips there, the bout ending when, after losing a fall Walker threw Mac on to the Press table. The Wellington officials must have been disappointed failure of their little scheme.
