June Elvidge, who toured New ZeaZealand with Pauline Frederick in “Spring Cleaning,” is notv a buyer tor a big New York department store. * * $ Elsie Prince is returning to Australia to play the lead in “Mr. Cinders,” under the.J.C.W. banner. Reita Nugent, an Australian dancer, who has done well in England and on the Continent, is also returning for the same production. Margaret Bannerman is playing lead in a revival of Edgar Wallace’s racing play, “The Calendar,” in London. Others in the cast are Dora Lennox, Garry Marsh, Frafcklyn Bellamy, and Alfred Drayton.
A play written by a convict, and performed by other convicts for the amusement of their fellow-prisoners, was a feature of an entertainment given lately at the Camp Hill Preventive Detention Prison, Parkhurst, Isle of Wight. It was cahed “Misery Farm,” and was an amusing burlesque of life and work in a prison.
A brilliant cast was assembled for the all-star matinees of “Hamlet,” presented at the London Haymarket as a Shakespeare birthday celebration.
