TOO WET TO PLAY
DAY’S DELAY IN CRICKET MATCH WITH SURREY
COMMENT ON TEST SIDE LONDON, Monday. Steady rain fell all last night in London and play in the cricket match Australia v. Surrey was abandoned for today at the Oval.
The match will be resumed at 11 a.m. tomorrow if the weather is suitable and stumps will he drawn at 5 p.m. P. F. Warner, writing in the “Morning Post,” says the batting of the England team is not quite good enough after No. 5. It might be overcome by making Ames wicketkeeper. He says he expected to find Duleepsinhji in the test team, and is confident he will be there later, but is not sure that Geary will fit into the side. Continuing, the critic says he would not be surprised if The Rest win or get the best of a draw. Colonel Trevor, in the “Daily Telegraph,” congratulates the selection committee on sticking strictly to business relentlessly, and on wisely declining to include any player whom they do not regard as having the least possible chance of playing in the first test match.
