ST. JAMES
“DISRAELI” “Disraeli” continues to thrill audiences at the St. James Theatre. Disraeli surrounded by spies, Disraeli temporarily thwarted in his plans for Engand’s expansion. Disraeli tin matchmaker, Disraeli the loving husband, and Disraeli the successful Prime Minister, is the Disraeli around whorr Warner Brothers and Vitaphone have woven their special production, “Disraeli,” featuring that notable actor George Arliss, in the title role. Arliss —or perhaps we should say Arliss as that super-statesman—the Jew of Italian descent, rules the picture Hi;s every scene is interesting l —hip every mannerism charming—even ir his most sardonic moments. The supporting cast is a brilliant one being composed entirely of stage actors and actresses —Florence Arliss David Torrance, Anthony Bushell anc Joan Bennett. The supporting programme includes one or two talkie comedies, an overture by the Vitaphone Orchestra, and songs by Charles Hackett. PRINCE EDWARD “Broadway” will be presented at the Prince Edward Theatre again this evening. This is a fascinating crosscut of life in New York’s great amusement centre —of chorus girls and cabaret shows, of “bootlegging” and of the police. The action centres around a spectacular dance hall, known as the Paradise Night Club, and Glenn Tryon appears as a singer and dancer. Bright supports are shown.
