ELLERSLIE NOTES

JOTTINGS FROM THE COURSE The huddle jockey, J. Mcßae, who will make a return to the saddle at the Great Northern fixture after a lengthy absence, has been engaged to ride King Emerald in the Cornwall Handicap. In this event last year King Emerald finished second. There is a doubt whether Hymestrason will be brought to Ellerslie, but if the trip is undertaken L. Dulieu will have the ride. With a view to returning to Ellerslie at the end of the month. W. H. Patterson has purchased a property adjacent to N. Cunningham’s stables. In addition to Kairuri he will also have the handling of Sub-Editor, who is at present spelling at Rotorua. Mr. W. Paterson, of Motuihi Island, a brother of Messrs. J. and J. Paterson, is expected to take control of the Auckland Stud Company’s Farm at Otahuhu at the end of the month.

E. Stanway, who has been schooling Sir Archie at headquarters, will have the riding on that horse in the hack hurdle events here next month.
